Gripping - Fielding knows how to capture her readers. She describes in a believable way how two people who have gone their own ways within their marriage, find each other again in hard times.
Brought me to tears! - Not a thriller this time by Ms. Fielding. I could hardly read the last pages,because I was so much in tears. Awesome book! 5 stars!!
a true tear trigger - After reading the book the first time, I read it again to even more tears. The first time is in the same league as Love Story or A walk to remember. Normal, happy lives that are turned upside down by a diagnosed, fatal illness, making people reach out for one another and come together as they try to deal with the pain and numbness the death of a loved one can cause.There aren t many Authours who can show this terrible part of life in a way that makes us cherish everything and everyone we have, but Joy Fielding does a fantastisc job in The first Time.
Bewegend oder oder doch schnulzig? - Ich habe das Buch grade zu Ende gelesen und muss sagen, dass ich meinen Vorgängern nicht 100% zustimme. Das Thema des Buches mag ein wichtiges sein und ich bemitleide jeden, der unter einem solchen Schicksalsschlag wie die Protagonistin leidet, es kann jeden treffen. Doch mich hat das Buch nicht zu Tränen gerührt, da es ganz offensichtlich genau darauf ausgelegt ist... am Schluss scheint alles zu glatt zu laufen, zu sehr Friede-Freude-Eierkuchen und amerikanische Family Value!Außerdem habe ich bei einem Joy Fielding-Roman nicht mit einer Liebesgeschichte gerechnet, da sie ja sonst eher auf spannende Thriller spezialisiert ist. Das Buch ist aber trotzdem gut zu lesen und empfehlenswert, vor allem für Fans von schönen Liebesgeschichten.
emotional und realistisch - Auch wenn Joy Fielding sonst für ihre packenden Thriller bekannt ist, erzählt sie in the first time eine völlig andere Geschichte. Meiner Meinung nach ist ihr das vorbildlich gelungen. Das Schicksal einer Frau und ihrer Familie wird beklemmend realistisch geschildert, ohne ins Rührselige abzugleiten. Obwohl ich Bücher dieser Art sonst nicht unbedingt mag, gehört the first time zu meinen absoluten Lieblingsbüchern.
